New members of the CCAS have good reason to be pleased with the number and quality of the many field trips offered this past season. Now that snowbirds have flown back north and full timers are focused on summer things, is a good time to brush up on birding knowledge and shared experiences, from the comfort of a favorite arm chair.

The county’s library system is one place to start. Recently I found a book entitled WINGED WONDERS an encyclopedia like book featuring: birds in art, language, as well as, spiritual, political, and military symbolism. There are avian proverbs, imagery, and heraldry from around the world and across history.
Even some of our traditions are built upon well known birds species. This is definitely not your father’s PETERSON GUIDE!
Co-authors Watkins and Stockland, both British twitchers, set a lively pace. Published by Bluebridge, the ISBN number is: 1-933346-07-8
